Are your leads drying up? Looking for a bit of help to get fresh ones?
Many businesses come to me with this specific problem, as inbound marketing is one proven way to help businesses get more high quality leads.
However, is this the best time to market your business?
I wanted to talk to you today about when the ideal time to market your business really is, in order to ensure your business keeps growing.
Because waiting until you have no leads could kill your business.
Waiting till leads dry up
Like I said, many businesses come to me when their leads have dried up.
This is usually because they have relied on referrals to grow their business and they are simply not coming in fast enough.
Another reason is that they have been so busy with clients and customers, they haven’t had the time to do anything about the marketing side of things.
So, they only really consider taking action once they have only a few leads left.
Sound familiar?
When is the best time to market your business?
In a perfect world, we would not need to do any marketing, and people who wanted to use our products or services would easily find us.
As most of the businesses I speak to have a great business and a really high close rate, they only need to be able to speak to the right people to know they would close the deal.
The problem is that they wait till they have no work to look into things like inbound marketing, mostly through desperation and the fact they now have time to look at it – as before they were busy with all their customers.
If you are not at that stage yet, I’m so glad I caught you in time. Why? Because if you want to start marketing with no leads, there are a couple of problems you will run into.
It always surprises me how little focus businesses put on their marketing as it is the biggest most effective way to grow your business.
1. You may not have the budget
Now that your work has dried up, you may not have the funds to pay for an effective marketing strategy.
Because of this, you may even opt for a low cost option that will be ineffective, or worse, you try and do it yourself.
2. The time it’ll take to work
Your business has dried up and you need leads now – I get that. The real problem is that any great marketing campaign can take 6 – 18 months to take effect.
That is a long time to go without generating more revenue.
In reality, it would only be a few months before you start seeing results, but that is the timeframe most agencies will quote you.
So, to answer the question of when is the best time to market your business?
Now is the best time to start thinking about marketing your business.
Conclusion
Marketing is usually the last thing businesses get round to doing, and usually only when their leads or sales dry up.
However, marketing is the biggest and most effective thing you can do for your business to grow sales, generate more leads and help your business thrive.
So, don’t wait to start; market your business now, as waiting till it is too late could mean the difference between staying in business or going under.
Because, if you wait until it is too late, it could take too long to take effect or you simply won’t have the money to pay for it.
Why don’t you take a look at your outgoings for past year – what of those things actually contributed to growing your business?
