Have you heard of Google My Business?
Could it be the tool private hospitals have been waiting for?
I think so and here are the reasons why.
Google My Business is a new tool from Google that I believe you, as CEO or Marketing Manager of a private hospital, are going to find very helpful indeed.
What makes this tool so great is how your patients can get all the information they need about your hospital all in one place. They can connect with you when they are searching for hospitals on search, maps and Google+.
What is Google My Business?
Google My business is the unification of current technologies. It encompasses your Google local listing, reviews and your Google+ and makes it easier for your patients to find, engage and review your hospital.
If you were ever wondering if your hospital should be on Google+ or have a Google local listing then wonder no more. If your hospital wants to connect with and engage with potential patients then having these tools is a must to do business in 2014 and beyond.
See all your reviews in one place
Hospitals and the healthcare industry get a lot of reviews and Google has made it easier for your hospital to view and respond to them.
Now inside Google My Business you can see all your reviews across the web in one place. This means you can respond to reviews quicker than ever before.
This is important because your potential patients can now get their questions and concerns answered straight away. There is nothing worse than when a review goes unnoticed or not responded to.
This makes the patient think that you are not listening however on many occasions you may not even know they have left a review. This new tool will help with that.
For even more help on encouraging reviews for your hospital read my blog post “How to supercharge your patient reviews with Google”.
The virtual Experience
Without actually visiting your hospital patients can’t experience what it is like until they arrive.
Not until now that is.
With Google’s business view and Google My business you can easily add a virtual tour of your hospital to your profile so patients can look around before they decide to visit.
Of course there are certain areas of the hospital you would not want to include like the canteen fridge for example. But all joking aside this could really help your potential patients get a real feel for your hospital.
Thinking that a virtual tour is not a good idea?
I understand your scepticism but these things really do work. Google has invested a huge amount financially into this technology and people are responding very well to it.
To get a virtual tour of your hospital you first need to hire a certified Google photographer who will come to your hospital and take lots of photos.
The photographer will then feed these images into software and then sent it to Google.
The price to do this is very reasonable so cost is not an excuse not to get this done.
View Hospital insights
This one is more helpful for your Marketing Team – you can see from one clear dashboard how many people have visited your website and Google+ page.
You can get data on clicks on your posts, engagement metrics, where your audience comes from and even info on your app engagement. As many hospitals these days do have apps. It will even tell you how many app installs you have received.
You can also view your most important website stats within the console.
YouTube at your fingertips
Many hospitals I work with have many videos hosted on YouTube. They use video for patient testimonials, meet the teams and patient case studies.
Within Google My Business you can now see information on who has viewed your videos and for how long. You also get up to date stats related to your subscribers.
Google AdWord PPC
Many hospitals use paid media as part of their Healthcare Marketing – you can even see how your AdWords are performing. However this is only limited to AdWords express at the moment.
This will really help your Marketing Team have a clearer idea of how your hospital is doing across the whole Google experience.
Google is no longer just a search engine – its influence is all over the web. If your hospital is not using Google to its advantage then it really is missing out.
Your potential patients are using Google to find the best hospital to use, they are reading reviews and listening to friends and family on social. They are using video and virtual tours to understand which hospital is best for them.
They use maps to find the nearest hospital to them and click through to watch virtual tours and videos on YouTube.
If you are not seen by your potential patients how can you compete?
If you would like to learn more about how to create effective Private Hospital Marketing read my free guide “Healthcare Marketing in a Nutshell”.
Why not get started with Google My Business now.
Now it’s your turn
